charleston

This past weekend we went to Charleston to run/walk in the 33rd annual Cooper River Bridge Run. It is a 10k (6.2 miles) race that starts in Mt. Pleasant, crosses the Cooper River Bridge, and finishes in downtown Charleston. It's a hugely popular race, and they capped it at 38,000 participants this year! The rules said no strollers, so Mark ran the race, and I walked it with Jake in the Ergo. I wasn't sure how happy he'd be so I packed lots of snacks! Luckily he did fantastic and even took a little nap (probably because we woke him up at 6am to get to the start before they shut down the bridge and closed roads). He was very excited by the mounds of bananas piled up at the food table at the end of the race and had to have one promptly!

We spent Saturday afternoon at The Battery and enjoyed the weather by hanging out and walking around downtown Charleston. We were able to stay with our friends Laura Lee and Marty and go to their church before leaving on Sunday afternoon. Jake did fantastic in the nursery and didn't seem to miss us a bit... I think it's because they had lots of snacks! Thanks for letting us stay with you, Laura Lee. We miss you here in Greenwood!
