Jake's favorite things right now are books and trains, or "choo choos" as he calls them. He wants to read books all the time. It's the first thing he wants to do when he wakes up in the morning! We're not complaining at all because he'll sit still for the whole book and wants to sit in your lap to read. It's the closest thing to a cuddle that we can get:) His friend Noah has a lot of trains, and they love to play with them. Jake was excited to get some trains when Sam was born.
We go to doctor for his checkup on Tuesday so we'll let you know his stats then. His lower canines (aka eyeteeth) came in this past month (lower left on Sept. 23rd and lower right on Sept. 27th) so all we have left are his two year old molars. I think we'll have a little break in teething before those arrive.
He still loves to eat. I think he gained a pound while Grammy and Grandpa were here! Grandpa eats about every two hours thanks to his high metabolism from all his running, and Jake wanted to eat whatever Grandpa had. Luckily Grandpa was willing to share:) I think he had three breakfasts on some mornings because we were all eating at different times!
He likes his big boy bed and now won't sleep in a pack 'n play, which will make traveling a little more complicated. I think we're going to get him a little sleeping bag and see how that works. He climbs up and down steps like a pro, which makes it easier for me when I have Jake and Sam by myself. He is so good about holding my hand when we're in parking lots and stands right by Sam's car seat when I'm unlocking the car.
Another one of his favorite things to do is hide. He'll hide behind curtains and under the coffee table. He likes to hide his puzzle pieces and balls (and coasters) in his rocket and under or between your legs. he even hid one of his toys between Sam's little legs like he does to us. It was precious. He's like a little squirrel always hiding things:) If I didn't pay attention, I don't think I'd be able to find some of his toys at the end of the day:)
He also loves wrestling and rough housing around. He laughs so hard when he's tickled and when you try to stop, he'll grab your hand and put it wherever you were tickling him as if to say, "please don't stop!" It's priceless. Another of his favorite activities is to climb on your back and ride like you are a horse. He'll hold on with both hands to your shirt and hang on for dear life!
He's continuing to learn more words and has finally started saying please instead of signing it. He'll try to repeat almost anything you ask him to, some more intelligible than others. Some of his favorite words to say: book, baby, duck, more, please, choo choo, night night, "cacker" for cracker, and, of course, mommy and daddy.
He is such a delightful little boy. We are so blessed to have him in our lives and are thoroughly enjoying watching his little personality develop. We look forward to the future, but are so content with where he is now.
Reading with Grammy.
More books! Story time with Grandpa and Sam.
Jake loves riding on your back like a horse.
Jake's favorite game- hide 'n seek!
Peekaboo (or as we say in SC, "peep eye").
He loves sitting in Sam's bouncy seat. He'll lean all the way back and flip through a book. It looks like he's relaxing in a recliner:)
