Resident Retreat

We spent the weekend in Hendersonville, NC at the Highland Lake Inn with all of the other residents from the family medicine program here in Greenwood. We stayed in cabins and enjoyed sunny but cold weather. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and relaxation. We are so thankful to the attending physicians who covered the hospital for the weekend so that all of the residents were off and had the opportunity to attend.

We had dinners together as a group on Friday and Saturday nights but the rest of the time was free to do whatever we wanted. Friday night was an evening full of games, and we stayed up later than we have in a long time! Mark was post-call and only slept in the car for about an hour on the way to NC but he was a trooper and stayed up until after 2am! Saturday we wandered around downtown Hendersonville and enjoyed some downtime. Beth received a massage in the afternoon and enjoyed it immensely! Many people played paintball and went snow tubing but Mark decided neither of these activities were in Jake's best interest:) Maybe next year!

On Sunday morning we had a little church service with one of the resident's husbands (Jeff Tell) preaching and Mark and another resident (Aaron Zeller) playing guitars. It was a sweet time of teaching and worship. In the afternoon we went to the Biltmore and were glad for the indoor tour of the mansion because it was snowing! We liked the swimming pool in the basement best of all. We definitely can't imagine living in such a huge home. Beth can't imagine having to change clothes for every activity like the women back then did- there's something to be said for living in the 21st century!

It's crazy to think we'll have a ten month old next year for the retreat! Who knows, maybe one of the grandparents will want to watch him for the weekend... just a thought:-) Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!

In front of the Biltmore- it was very windy and cold!

Beth, I woke up at 3:00 a.m. and thought "did I miss Beth's baby being born yet?!" So glad I haven't missed it! You look adorable and so very happy with wonderful hubby by your side. Can't wait to see Jake's beautiful arrival!
