This weekend has been Welcome Back Weekend for the residency program. This is a time when the program invites applicants and their spouses back for an opportunity to spend a second weekend looking at the program in order to help them in the decision-making process for where they will be for the next three years. This weekend was especially helpful last year as we prayed for the Lord's guidance in where we would be for Mark to continue his training. We have been busy all weekend with the candidates and all the activities. It has been a blast getting to know the candidates and their families better!
Yesterday morning there was a procedure workshop for the candidates to learn some new skills: central line placement, shoulder injections, cast application, and ultrasound. Well, Jake was the star for the day. He was the lucky subject for the ultrasound station, and he performed beautifully. In fact, he flashed us his boy parts every chance he got! We must confess that it was a relief to receive extra confirmation that he is, in fact, really a boy! We have our ultrasound at the OB office on Wednesday and will post pictures afterwards.
