On Sunday we were able to go to church at Cedar Creek and hear a wonderful sermon from Pastor Chuck... we sure do miss his teaching:) He reminded us to measure our success not by the world's standards, which is always measured by works, but by living a life of faith that is pleasing to God. This was an excellent admonition for me especially since I am now a stay at home mom with Jake. I should be desiring to glorify God in all that I do, regardless of whether it is simply changing a diaper, playing with Jake, or preparing dinner. While what I do every day does have eternal significance, often there is "nothing to show" for my day by the world's standards. It is good to be reminded that this is not the standard by which I should measure myself. I know what a blessing it is to be able to stay at home with Jake, and I LOVE it! I realize that this is a privilege not all mothers have, and I thank God for this opportunity.
In the afternoon we had a cookout with the Puckett side of the family. Jake was able to meet aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, first cousins once-removed, and his second cousin Jackson (who is three months older). Jake and Jack had a lot of fun together, and I'm sure they will be entertaining to watch as they get older. They gave us a sneak peek at what family gatherings will look like from now on:) Jake's Great-aunt Suzy made him an adorable rocking chair with a red and black seat for the Louisville Cardinals- it's a perfect size for him. Thanks, Suzy! We really enjoyed getting to see everyone and look forward to our next trip home.
