a first!

Recently Grammy and Grandpa came to visit us, and Mark and I had a first. We were gone for three days without Jake. We left Jake at home with Grammy and Grandpa, and Mark and I went to Kansas City with the residency program to recruit medical students at the American Academy of Family Physicians National Conference for Residents and Students (long title, huh?). Before this trip the longest I had ever been away from Jake was twelve hours at the Missions Conference last November in Louisville. Mark has spent the night away when he's on call, but he at least sees us for dinner usually. So, this was definitely a first for all of us!

Well, Jake didn't miss a beat. He had a great time and didn't even miss us! Grammy and Grandpa did lots if fun things with him. They took him swimming, went to the park, visited Star Fort in Ninety Six (a nearby town), made daily trips to Walmart, and just had a grand time! Thanks, Grammy and Grandpa, for taking such good care of Jake while we were away. We know you enjoyed it!

Playing on the pool steps with Grandpa.

Reading with Grammy.

Walking the "trail" at Star Fort.

Jake loves drinking from water fountains. We discovered this at the tender age of ten months! He really does a pretty amazing job:)

The last night Grammy and Grandpa were here we went to a hibachi and sushi place, and Jake thought the chopsticks were very cool! He wanted to eat with them, and this was the result- strawberries on top of the chopsticks. Pretty funny!
