It's hard to believe Jake turned two on April 16th. He is such a big boy. He speaks in sentences all the time, some with as many as ten words! He knows his colors and shapes, and he recently added hexagon and crescent to his repertoire! He knows a handful of letters and we're working on spelling his name. He drinks from a regular cup without any help and uses both a fork and spoon regularly, needing help only occasionally with really slippery food. He loves trains and trucks and building ramps for them with his blocks. One of his favorite things to do is "being crazy"! This involves running around acting like a wild man! He loves it. He also talks with Sam in Sam's language, including all the high-pitched noises that only a baby should make:) If Sam is fussing, he'll go over to him and say, "It's okay, Sam." repeatedly in a sing-song fashion until Sam calms down. It's precious. He is a very sweet and intelligent little boy, and we are so blessed to have him in our family.
We had a little party for him at the park on his birthday. However, the weather didn't cooperate. It was chilly, windy, and rainy that morning during the time we reserved the pavilion (the afternoon was beautiful). The rain did stop so that the kids could play in the sand. As far as Jake was concerned, the party was a success. As long as he had cupcakes, balloons, and sand to play in he would be content. He got all three!
Blowing out the candles on his cupcake cake... with a little help:)
My favorite picture from his birthday.
Attacking his cupcake:)
Riding on the seesaw with his friend Corrie. Papa is on the other side.
Playing with his new t-ball set from Anna.
Building in the sand.
Instead of gifts for Jake, people brought children's books to donate to our library. Thank you, everyone!
