eight months!

It's hard to believe Jake is eight months old today. He is getting more active each day and babbling away. He loves looking in the mirror at himself and is starting to say consonant sounds. He still is not crawling, but it won't be too long before he's on the move. He can get up on his knees and rocks back and forth occasionally. He has six teeth, but the seventh one may come in later today or tomorrow... it's right there:)

He is a wonderful eater; he eats wheat cereal and both fruits and veggies. So far there's nothing he has refused to eat. Hopefully he keeps this up as he gets older. The fruits he has tried are: apples, apricots, bananas, blueberries, mangoes, peaches, and pears. The veggies he has eaten are: butternut squash, carrots, corn, green beans, peas, potatoes, spinach, and sweet potatoes. He likes to eat puffs and has become quite proficient with his pincer grasp. He prefers drinking from a cup with us holding it and doesn't like sippy cups.

He is such a happy baby and LOVES new people and places. He studies everyone and everything and is very generous with his smiles and laughs. He will let anyone hold him and stays happy as can be. He is starting to take one long nap after lunch and sleeps for two hours or so (this is very nice for me as I can get lots done during that time!).

Jake LOVES his daddy! He knows when Mark is supposed to be home and will watch the door. As soon as he hears the doorknob turn, he gets so excited. When he finally sees Mark, he just grins and grins and puts his arms out for Mark to pick him up. It's precious! We are enjoying watching Jake's personality grow and develop. This parenting stuff sure is fun! Here are some recent pictures and a cute video.

Jake talking and kissing himself in the bathroom mirror last week. Absolutely hilarious! Don't worry, he did not injure himself in the filming of this clip (even though it sounds like it!).

Showing off his top teeth.

He looks like he's up to something, doesn't he?

Such a sweet face.

Playing on his favorite blanket.
