Last weekend, Jake and I (Mark was on call) had the privilege of attending a Nigerian naming ceremony for our friends' new baby. She was born nine days prior to the ceremony, but none of us knew her name yet. It is custom in Nigeria to have a naming ceremony on the ninth day to celebrate with friends and family. It was special that Akindele's mother, who lives in Nigeria, was able to be here to celebrate. They named their daughter Iyeowula Oreofe, which means life of God and grace, respectively. They are calling her Iye (E-yea), or life, for short. It was a very sweet time of dedicating her to the Lord and thanking Him for his grace and giving Iye life.

Jake desperately wanted to yank Akindele's traditional hat off, which I sweetly explained to him was not proper etiquiette:)
The residency attendees

front row: Dorcas, Akindele & Iye, Danny
So sweet.
Jeremy was holding Jake and Chris was rubbing his stubbly beard on Jake's face... he thought it was pretty funny!
