4 months

Sam turned four months on Tuesday and had his check-up yesterday with Dr. Danny. Everything looked great. He weighed in at 14 pounds, 11 ounces (48th percentile) and was 26 1/4 inches (90th percentile). He received two shots and an oral vaccine and stopped crying as soon as they were over and I picked him up. He's a champ! He did have a low fever yesterday afternoon, and he woke up with one this morning. Not sure if it's from the vaccines or because he's starting to get sick (both boys woke up from naps yesterday with coughs and stuffy noses).

Sam dropped his late night (10pm) feeding last weekend and has slept through the night without a peep the last two nights until 7:30- 8am. Whoohoo! He hasn't been feeding during the night for a few weeks now, but we'd usually have to get up to roll him onto his back after he would get stuck on his belly and cry out. Yesterday was the first time I saw evidence that he can roll from his stomach to his back. I still haven't seen the action in person, just the before and after positions:) I'm guessing he figured out how to do this two nights ago and that's why he was able to sleep all the way through!

Napping is going much better, too. He usually sleeps for about 45 minutes in the morning, about an hour or hour and a half after lunch, and then about a 45 minute nap in the late afternoon/early evening. He nurses around 7-7:30pm and then is down for the night. I think having a schedule (but a flexible one) and getting more sleep has led to this happier disposition:) We'll take it!

He is such a happy baby! He has a beautiful smile and laughs and smiles very easily:) He loves to put anything and everything in his mouth, and Jake really likes to bring him toys to gum on. So sweet! He does great during tummy time, but his favorite thing is standing up! The exersaucer gets lots of use.

Jake adores Sam. He always wants him around and is constantly bringing Sam toys. Just this morning Jake wanted to pick Sam up. Sam was strapped into the bouncy seat, and Jake put his arms under Sam's armpits (like he's seen me do a thousand times) and attempted to lift him. Since Sam was buckled in, he obviously couldn't, and Jake turned and asked me to help. It was precious! Although I told Jake he was not allowed to pick Sam up, I think I'm going to have to be even more cautious than I already am. Like never leaving them alone to run to the potty unless Sam is strapped into something:) Who knows what I'd find when I came back a minute later!

Sam tends to cross his ankles when he sleeps on his back. Wonder if it will start to happen all the time when's awake like it did with Jake...

Hey Beth where did you find those plastic covers for over Jake's underwear? I have checked a few places and haven't found them-- they would be very helpful for our longer outings when Mahkii doesn't ask for the potty and ends up with accidents.
