potty training

Well, it's been two weeks since Jake started wearing underwear, and he's doing fantastic! He still wears diapers for naps and overnight, but the rest of the day he is in underwear. He successfully poops and pees on the potty all by himself. Well, not really all by himself because he can't pull his pants up or down very well yet:) And he still can't tell us ahead of time that he needs to go. He tells us as soon as he starts to go, but I don't think he recognizes the urge to pee in enough time to get to the potty beforehand yet. So I just tell him it's potty time every so often. This seems to work for now. The ability to know ahead of time will come in it's own time.

He still has accidents, but usually once a day at the most. He is even able to keep his underwear dry when we run errands and while he's in the nursery at the gym. I take him to use a big potty while we're out, but I don't think he feels very comfortable on it- it's definitely bigger than his little potty! Yesterday at church was the first time he successful peed sitting on a big potty... and without a potty seat on it! Way to go, Jake! This is a little tricky because there is not a wee wee guard on a big potty... just a little technicality:) We are so proud of him and are amazed at how well he is doing. I definitely wasn't expecting this for another year! Not that I'm complaining:)

On his little potty. He's great at sitting still as long as he's reading:)

Using the big potty right before bath time- hence the no clothes:)
