mini road trip

Last Friday Jake and I made a short road trip to the neighboring town of Clinton, about 40 minutes away. Our sweet elderly neighbors that used to live below us had moved to an assisted living facility there two months ago, and we decided to go visit now that they had time to get settled. Needless to say they were excited about our visit and anxious to see how much Jake's grown. They were amazed to see him walking and all the words he can say. When they lived below us, we'd stop by and visit at least once a week so they were in a little Jake withdrawal:) Funny story- when I called to set up our visit, Mr. Bill answered the phone (he's a little hard of hearing) and didn't know who I was until I said Jake's name. I don't think he remembered my name, just that I was Jake's mom! I'm sure this won't be the last time that happens:)

We had lunch in the dining room, and Jake was a hit. Everyone wanted to sit at our table and once it was full they all just stopped by to say hello.  Bill and Lenora told me later that this was the first time since they'd been there that anyone had asked to sit at their table! We had a wonderful visit, and they can't wait for us to come back and visit again!

Ms. Lenora, Jake, and Mr. Bill

Jake stayed up past his usual nap time and was asleep in the car on the way home in less than five minutes! He had a fun, busy morning:)
