croup
The only bummer to our weekend getaway to Atlanta is that Jake woke up at about 11pm on Sunday night with croup. It came out of nowhere, which is very unusual. He had woken up a little snotty the previous two days but it cleared up as the day wore on and he didn't have a cough at all. Well, when he woke up Sunday night, he sounded awful- really congested with the classic croupy cough. Luckily, after a couple of steam treatments in the bathroom (shutting the door and turning the shower on full blast with hot water to make lots of steam), he managed to get a bit of sleep before we headed home first thing in the morning. He is doing much better now after finishing his steroids. He now has a normal productive cough and lots of nasal congestion with an occasional fever, but is acting completely fine. We've stayed away from the gym daycare, playgroups, and my Friday morning bible study that has childcare, all in an effort to not get anyone else sick. Needless to say, we've felt the isolation from our self-imposed house arrest:) We've gotten out to go walking every day, which has been wonderful, but I'll be glad when we're back to our normal activities!

Oh no! Get well, Jake! Another friend of mine has a 1 year old daughter with croup right now, too, so it must be making its rounds.
