kindness of a stranger

This afternoon I needed to go to the post office and get to the hospital employee pharmacy before it closed at 5pm. Mark is on call so we planned to meet him for supper in the cafeteria at 5pm. Well, Jake decided to take a two hour nap today- he always seems to sleep longer when we actually have somewhere to be at a particular time:) So, I decided to let him sleep and just buy a stamp from the machine at the post office instead of trying to get there before it closed at 4:30pm. In the end, I had to wake him up so we could make these two stops before dinner.

When I got to the post office, they had removed the machines and there was not an option to buy stamps after hours anymore. Bummer! I needed to mail our Mother's Day cards today (last pickup at 5pm) so that they would get there by Saturday, and I was one stamp short. There were still customers inside since it was just past 4:30pm so I asked an employee if there was anywhere else to buy a stamp in town. She told me of a place about five minutes away so I was about to head there when a kind woman spoke up. She had just finished in line and told me that she had an extra stamp in her car! She was so sweet and wouldn't even let me pay her for the stamp. I was able to get my Mother's Day cards out in time all because of the kindness of a stranger. Take time to perform a random act of kindness for a stranger- you'll bless their day immensely! I just wanted to share how my day was blessed because of the kindness of a stranger:)
